Equipping Your Planned Giving Toolbox

with the Right Tools

Kelli Smith

This session will provide helpful insights to help gift officers confidently engage their donors in gift planning talks. Many gift officers wear multiple hats and are not, or feel they are not, fully equipped or prepared to have comprehensive planned giving conversations. Every gift officer needs the appropriate tools to prepare for successful communication. We will discuss what that toolbox might look like and how to hone your skills to select the right tool for the right donor. Session objectives: Discover the tools you need to have meaningful conversations with your donors; Lost in translation – demystify your internal jargon; make it plain; Learn…know your audience and master your messaging; and Professional development and ongoing education – why it matters and how to get it.
