Matt Laufman


The 2023 Bank of American Study of Philanthropy examines the giving patterns, priorities and attitudes of affluent U.S. Households. This study is the ninth in a series of biennial studies researched and written by the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in partnership with Bank of America. All these studies provide valuable information about affluent giving across multiple Dimensions that can be used by nonprofit governing boards and professionals, charitable advisors, donors, and others interested in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector.

Matthew Laufman is a Senior Vice President and Philanthropic Strategist for the National Consulting and Advisory Practice group at Bank of America Private Bank. In his role, Matt’s responsibilities include providing in-depth tailored philanthropic solutions to assist clients in pursuing their mission and goals. In this capacity, Matt provides best practices and consultative services in several areas, including governance and oversight, development strategies, board and staff education, and strategic planning. Matt works closely with the organization’s leadership, boards, development committees and staff to provide resources in an impactful way. Matt has over 25 years of experience in the philanthropic industry. Matt is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he majored in Business with a concentration in Finance.
