In this presentation you will learn how, from your professional role, to help clients touch all the bases as they hit their legacy home run for themselves, their family, and for the nonprofits they love. By the end of the session, you will be able to: 1) support a conversation about identity and purpose at "home base"; 2) support clients in determining, through an appropriate advisor, if they have enough for themselves; 3) help clients at third determine, with an appropriate advisor, where their wealth will go at death; 4) help clients appreciate the role of charitable tools at third base; and 5) help them structure a gift that brings their legacy home to a nonprofit near and dear to their hearts.
As the Sallie B. and William B. Wallace Chair in Philanthropy at The American College, Phil Cubeta is responsible for the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) curriculum. Prior to joining The American College, Phil served as Chief of Staff for The Nautilus Group, a service of New York Life Insurance Company, providing estate, business, and philanthropic strategies to affluent clients through 200 of the company's top agents. He serves on the Planned Giving Advisory Board for The Carter Center (established by Jimmy and Rosalind Carter). Phil's original training was in English Literature, Williams College, BA; Philosophy and Psychology, Oxford University, MA; and English Language and Literature, Yale, MA, M.Phil. He also holds the Masters of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) from The American College.
