MICHAEL KENYON

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

This presentation offers a timely overview of how CGP’s Advocacy efforts educate our members and work to influence tax policies affecting charitable giving. Topics include key provisions of the 2025 tax law and proposed 2026 legislation, such as the IRA Charitable Rollover Facilitation and Enhancement Act and the Charity Parity Act. Attendees will also learn about federal and state efforts to require financial institutions to release charitable beneficiary distributions from IRAs promptly. Additional updates will cover the Johnson Amendment, proposed Treasury regulations on DAFs, and Florida SB 700. Advocacy is a team effort and depends on volunteer participation nationwide. You’ll discover how to get involved as a CGP Advocate and help strengthen the voice for the charitable sector in Washington.

As president and CEO of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners, Michael Kenyon strives to create an environment where CGP’s 6,000 members can come together to educate, learn, network and advocate for the distinguished profession of charitable gift planning. It’s Michael’s job to navigate change, foster innovation and bring people together to build a healthy and successful organization. Michael has extensive nonprofit leadership experience working with organizations in social services, education and performing arts institutions, and professional associations. He is active as an advocate for the nonprofit sector, frequently presenting on the role of nonprofits in society, and advises organizations on governance and board development.

There is continuing education credit approval for attorneys, financial planners and accountants.
