DANIKA MENDRYGAL

So You Want to Set up an Endowment?...

Endowment Foundations, Supporting

Organizations and Alternatives

This session will consider the issues related to establishing or restructuring an endowment, focusing on the various charitable vehicles and entity choices, and the primary pros and cons of each. This session is appropriate for organizations considering establishing an endowment, as well as those looking to restructure or add additional protections around an existing endowment.

After almost twelve years representing nonprofits and tax-exempt organizations at Haynes and Boone in Dallas, Danika Mendrygal established Mendrygal Law, PLLC. After over 10 years, the firm has grown to a staff of ten—all devoted exclusively to representing and advising nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations and advising boards, officers, and staff. Danika is rooted in the local nonprofit community, both as a volunteer and a speaker. She works with a women-only team of lawyers and professionals. Danika was recognized as one of the “Top Women Attorneys in Texas” in 2019 and as a “Super Lawyer” in 2018-2025, both by Texas Super Lawyers. She has served as the Chair of the TEGE Exempt Organizations Council since 2018, a national council that coordinates educational programs for the EO sector and communicates with the IRS to provide practitioner perspectives.

There is continuing education credit approval for attorneys, financial planners and accountants. .
